Synopsis:
A young schoolboy, Raghu (Soham Chakraborty), sees his mother with her paramour. His father commits suicide and this has a deep impact on his psyche. He locks up his mother and her paramour in their house and sets it on fire. Sent to a remand home, he bides his time and on release goes to Calcutta where he befriends Salim, a medical student. Then one day, when they were travelling together Salim dies in an accident. Raghu senses an opportunity and assumes the identity of Salim and goes to the Medical School in his place.
In the Medical School, Raghu aka Salim meets Ashok (Anindya Chatterjee) and Suresh (Surajit Sen) and falls in love with a fellow student Riya (Payel Sarkar). But one day Nemesis catches up with him when the warden of the Remand Home comes to the College and recognises him. What happens next is the Story of Amanush 2.
Comments:
This film is a remake of a Tamil Film called Naan by Jeeva Shankar and is not a sequel to Rajib Biswas' Amanush made in 2010 which was also a remake of a Tamil film. Instead it is a fresh story of a orpahned child turning to crime. The story itself is very predictable, but the screenplay is taut and manages to hold your attention.
There are inconsistencies of course. We will never know how an orphan penniless young man pays his way through medical school. The accomodation they are provided looks too good to be true and many other little flaws that an alert scriptwriter would easily have detected. But in the world of Tamil remakes, there is little scope for any intelligent work. I suspect that this too is a frame by frame copy.
Among the actors, this is a resurrection of Soham Chakraborty who has had few roles in the recent past. Anindya Chakraborty also does well, but Payel Sarkar looks to old to be a juniour medical student. The Music is pedestrian, editing good and cinematography competent. The rest of the cast, including the redoubtable Rajesh Sharma put in a mediocre performance.
You can sit through the movie because of the taut screenplay and the good cinematography, but otherwise, I would give this film a miss.

This rip at 2.17 GB has come out very well because of the x265 codec. Even the scenes have little or no banding - something often not achieved in webHD rips. The sound is the original AAC sound that came with the WebHD. There are no subtitles.
