Door velen wordt Ilse Koch gezien als inspiratie voor de bestseller en succesvolle bioscoopfilm The Reader. Deze documentaire gaat in op het verhaal van Ilse Koch en hoe ze tot haar daden kwam.
Ilse Koch wordt door het Jewish Virtual Library omschreven als de meest beroemde rechtszaak over misdaden tegen de mens van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Dit kwam door de haast diabolische reputatie van Koch, die o.a. lampenkappen liet maken van de huid van haar slachtoffers.
Deze intense documentaire plaats haar in de context van het Duitsland ten tijde van de Nazi's. Volgt haar carrière in de Nazi Partij en in de SS. En laat zien hoe ze als de vrouw van de commandant van het beruchte Buchenwald gewend raakte aan de monsterlijkheden en de verschillende privileges die ze genoot in deze rol.
Haar levensstijl, voornamelijk gefinancierd door fraude, alsook haar sadistische activiteiten zorgden er voor dat ze door de SS werd aangeklaagd en haar man werd geëxecuteerd. Later werd ze aangeklaagd door het American Military Tribunal gevolgd door het Duitse Hoge Gerechtshof om haar schuldig te bevinden van misdaden tegen de mens. Ze werd tot levenslang veroordeeld, vrij gelaten en door druk uit de hele wereld wederom opgesloten. Een ongelofelijk verhaal van misbruik van macht, sadisme en gerechtigheid.

This intense documentary place it in the context of Germany at the time of the Nazis. Follows her career in the Nazi Party and the SS. And shows how they like the wife of the commander of the notorious Buchenwald got used to the monstrosities and the various privileges they enjoyed in this role.
Her lifestyle, mainly financed by fraud, and its sadistic activities ensured that she was indicted by the SS and her husband was executed. Later she was sued by the American Military Tribunal followed by the German Supreme Court found her guilty of crimes against humanity. She was sentenced to life imprisonment, and released by pressure from around the world once again locked. An incredible story of abuse of power, sadism and righteousness.
