Summary:

After the remains of a female toy company executive are found shrink-wrapped with a Prince Charming doll, the company's CEO gives Booth and Sweets access to the company headquarters' highly classified prototype lab, where details of the victim's personal life begin to emerge. Meanwhile, Sweets, with the support of his girlfriend, squint Daisy Wick, prepares for his gun certification test despite Booth's opposition to Sweets carrying a weapon. Mom-to-be Brennan, wonders whether she will be a good mother and uses the case as a way to understand the importance of toys and playing with her child.

La dottoressa Temperance Brennan è un'antropologa eccezionale, di fama riconosciuta, che lavora con il suo staff nel "Jeffersonian Institute", una ragazza molto intelligente, ma decisamente asociale e goffa nelle relazioni interpersonali; è proprio per la sua eccezionale devozione al lavoro che Temperance viene contattata dall'FBI per aiutare un loro agente, Seeley Booth, a risolvere un caso di omicidio il cui unico indizio è lo scheletro della vittima. Grazie al suo brillante intuito ed alla sua precisione assoluta, Temperance aiuta Seeley a risolvere il caso (non prima di essersi guadagnata da quest'ultimo il soprannome di "Bones", ossa per l'appunto, da cui deriva il nome della serie), ma non sarà la loro unica collaborazione; proprio grazie all'eccezionale affiatamento dimostrato dai due, l'FBI decide che l'agente Booth ricorra più volte all'aiuto della dottoressa Brennan per risolvere casi di omicidio all'apparenza molto complicati.
