Touted as a comedy film ‘Crazy Kutumba’ a remake of Marathi film ‘Dhe Dhakka’ that in turn was inspired from Hollywood cinema ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ is a pack of emotional journey. A family travels from Belgaum to Bangalore with hopes of sunshine in the family with success in the dance and song competition. Littlie later after the start, the film comes to the street with problems loaded and emotions uncontrolled. The combination of versatile Ananthnag and Ramesh Aravind falls flat as both quarrel every time they appear on screen. Both are known for meaningful acting and comedy has nothing of that sort. Nevertheless the emotional saga is understandable from a family situated in a remote village in Belgaum district. The Belgaum regional dialect is well taken care. Lovely tunes in this ‘Crazy Kutumba’ are not enough to keep the audience glued to the seats is what B Ramamurthy the director should have given a thought. Even after having good performers on hand disappointment is that he doles out.

Ramesh Aravind’s earlier two films ‘3 Guttu Ondu Sullu Ondhu Nija’ a quickie in the direction of Dinesh Baboo and his own ‘Venkata in Sankata’ were good in humor. The expected humor is bundled out and tear jerking moments is loaded in this ‘CK’.

It is the story of a dysfunctional family bonding during a journey from Belgaum to Bangalore to participate in a TV reality show. A drunkard angry-old man, an aspiring inventor, a fitness freak-fatso, an ideal wife, a cute little dancer girl and a kleptomaniac guy all from the same family fight, scream, laugh, tease, sing, dance and generally have a fun-filled yet highly emotional journey from their small rural hometown to big city in a hope of making all their dreams come true. Ramesh Aravind as Shankar, Ananthnag as Mallappa the father, Sana as Chummi, Rajanikanth as brother in law Devu, Dhanya as dancer daughter Gauri, Veer Shanker as protagonist’s brother Bheema, Karibasavaiah as inspector, Bank Janardhan as psychiatrist, Chindodi Vijay Kumar and Harish as musicians, Umesh as make up man you find in ‘Crazy Kutumba’.

Ramesh Aravind is a well balanced actor. You give anything for him and he gives a good performance. His screen presence is tremendous like the versatile Ananthnag. Both the darlings of family audience should have been given more lighter moments and some sentiment scenes to gather more attraction.

Baby Dhanya is marvelous in the Krishna costume dance. The song Amma Naanu Benne Kaddillamma…is well choreographed. Sanathini in her teen age has taken up a big task of playing a mother and her emotions are brilliant. She has bright future. Rajanikanth as brother in law Devaraj has given good comedy and his timing is also good. He is an asset to Kannada cinema industry.

Rickey Kej has created three melodious tunes. The Hindi song Chori Chori…sung by MD Pallavi is superb. The song popularized by MD Pallavi and sung by Shreya Goshal Amma Naanu….is top of all the songs. Nade Mundhe Nade Mundhe and Hendathiyobbalu Maneyolagiddare…are lovely.

Mallikarjun’s camera work is not up to the standard and the editing of the film also deserved to be better. The travel shots captured by Mallikarjun are not bright and appealing. [/FONT]
