Trama

Un gruppo di amici, studenti di cinema al college, si avventurano nei boschi della Pennsylvania per girare un film horror a basso costo che utilizzeranno come progetto per la scuola. Durante le riprese però, i notiziari iniziano a riportare una scioccante ultim'ora: i morti stanno tornando in vita. L'incredulità dei ragazzi durerà ben poco, e presto dovranno cercare di evitare il reale orrore che si trovano di fronte e tornare alle loro case. Nel frattempo il Governo degli Stati Uniti passa rapidamente dal diniego a goffi quanto inutili tentativi di rassicurazione, fino al momento in cui i media smettono di funzionare. I ragazzi in fuga si renderanno presto conto che non hanno più una casa alla quale tornare, e l'unica forma di reazione che riescono a mettere in atto è il riprendere con le loro videocamere la follia, il caos e l'inferno che li circondano.
