Dracula: The Series is a syndicated series about Count Dracula (using the alias of "Alexander Lucard," a wealthy tycoon — the name itself 'A. Lucard' being 'Dracula' backwards.) and his struggles with Gustav Van Helsing, as well as Gustav's young nephews — Maximilian and Christopher Townsend. They were also aided by a schoolgirl, Sophie Metternich. Romantic tensions developed between Chris and Sophie. The series was filmed in Luxembourg, and produced by Phil Bedard and Larry Lalonde.
While business keeps their business executive mother on the road, Americans Chris and Max Townsend are sent to live with their uncle, Gustav Helsing, in Europe. The teenagers soon discover that Uncle Gustav is a vampire hunter and his goal is the destruction of billionaire industrialist Alexander Lucard, who is really Count Dracula.
Eileen Townsend, an international banking executive, and her two sons, Max and Chris, arrive in Europe. Max is obsessed with vampires, while Chris is a typical teenage boy. The boys live with their Uncle Gustav Helsing and his ward, Sophie Metternich, while Eileen is away on business. Gustav is the decendent of the famous vampire hunter, Dr. Van Helsing, from the Dracula novel. They soon meet the dashing, magnetic multi-billionaire Alexander Lucard, at an embassy reception, who is actually none other than the legendary Count Dracula. Naturally, Lucard ends up in a life and death struggle with Max, Chris, Sophie, and Uncle Gustav.
