Who better to get back into the AMS than show favourite Drunken Hearts? Frontman, lead vocalist, guitarist and principal writer Andrew McConathy is back with ‘Reckless Ways of Living’. McConathy’s unmistakably bold vocals ring out to a soundscape of pure americana. The effect is outstanding. Adding to this success are the musicians around him.

With McConathy Drunken Hearts are now Ames Dumm on electric guitars/vocals, bassist and vocalist Drew Packard, Tyler Adams on piano, organ and vocals and drummer/percussionist Eric Low. Compared to their predecessors these are much less an integrated rock band and more a flexible accompaniment to McConathy and his guests as they pursue a far more americana direction. The Drunken Hearts are to McConathy as The Dukes are to Steve Earle.

If ‘Reckless Ways of Living’ is about redemption then Andrew McConathy should consider himself duly redeemed. Not that what he did previously wasn’t good, it certainly was, but this broader americana canvass gives his undoubted qualities far greater scope. More to follow we hope.
