Egypte: Voorbij de piramiden, een twee-DVD set, zal boeien zowel kenners en neophytes. Schitterende fotografie, deskundige commentaar van Egyptologen, computer-animatie en last but not least, de Britse acteur Peter Woodward maken deze serie opvallen tussen de producties gewijd aan het Oude Egypte. Woodward maakt het Oude Egypte toegankelijk voor een breed publiek door zijn dekking te houden zowel erudiet en onderhoudend.
In Deel I, Woodward eerste gidsen zijn publiek via sites zoals Karnak's Great Temple, Koningin Hatsjepsoet's Deir el-Bahri, en de Tempel van Abydos. Woodward aanvulling op zijn opmerkingen met de inzichten van Egyptologen terug tot leven te brengen deze sites in al hun pracht. Woodward gaat vervolgens KV5, de grootste graf in de Vallei der Koningen, onder leiding van Kent Weeks. KV5 heeft nog wat geheimen te onthullen Weken en zijn team vanwege de enorme taak die de clearing van het mausoleum vertegenwoordigt.
In Deel II, Woodward eerste graaft in het dagelijkse leven van de oude Egyptenaren. Woodward wandelingen op locatie in het gezelschap van Egyptologen die instaan voor
kijkers met een blik in de dagelijkse activiteiten van de gewone Egyptenaren in de Oudheid. Om het krediet van de auteurs van deze productie, het leven van de oude Egyptische vrouwen krijgt ongewoon uitgebreide dekking. Woodward duikt dan in de spirituele overtuigingen van het oude Egypte, die nog steeds fascineren. De zoektocht naar onsterfelijkheid is onlosmakelijk verbonden met de menselijke natuur.
