Concerts were staged on the West side of the wall during June of 1987 The idea was to play for fans in West Berlin while offering at least a chance to hear the performance to fans who were forbidden to cross over for the show. This resulted in rioting from youth on the East side, The Los Angeles Times reported that around 3,000 showed up for the Eurythmics concert while even more came for Bowie. Ronald Reagan would make his famous "tear down this wall" demand less than a week later.
