Folkal Point-Folkal Point (1971); beautiful British folk vocals

From the Bristol urban region of England, the group Folkal Point put out a rare album of acoustic British folk in 1971, mixing traditional material with covers of songs by contemporary folk-rooted singer/songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Tom Paxton. Their most distinguishing feature was lead singer Cherie Musialik, who had the kind of pure upper-register vocal tone possessed by many of the finest British woman folksingers of the period. Only 500 copies of their self-titled LP were pressed (and half of those were reportedly lost in a flood). After a near mint copy surfaced it was mastered for CD.

Certainly one of the most beautiful folk LP's ever. This is filled with gorgeous female vocals with three acoustic vocals intertwined within delicate arrangements. There is not a single original song here, but the covers and traditional songs are well chosen and the production is nice too. This album also has the reputation as being the absolute rarest folk album from the UK, and it easily fetches four figures whenever it does show up for auction. But there is good news......you won't have to put a second mortgage on your house if you want to hear it because Big Pink records out of Korea has released it on CD in MINI LP packaging. I would say that this one is a must if pastoral folk is your thing.
