Dark Angel (1990) aka I Come in Peace, directed by Craig R. Baxley, Shout! Factory 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including 5.1 remaster, original theatrical stereo, and English subtitles.

Video encoded in two-pass 15.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : I've had a few requests for this one, and since this new 4k remaster recently came out, it seemed like a good time to do it. This piece of 90s sci-fi action trash stars the ininmitable Dolph "The Dolphin" Lundgren, and a cast of lesser character actors, including Brian Benben, Betsy Brantley, Matthias Hues, Jay Bilas, Jim Haynie, and our old buddy Al Leong in a small role. It's pretty generic as plots go, but it has a kind of interesting drug dealer from space conceit, more big fiery explosions than you can shake a stick at, nice, neon-soaked cinematography (by Mark Irwin, early Cronenberg collaborator), and some tits, so there you go.

Houston has been recruiting their cops from Sweden, and one of the best is Jack Caine, a tough man who doesn't play by the rules and wants nothing more than to take down The White Boys, a group of white collar drug dealers who killed his partner. When things escalate, Caine is partnered with FBI agent Larry Smith, who's uptight, and, like, wears a suit, man. However, the investigation turns strange when several of The White Boys turn up killed by a flying, spinning disk, and Caine's girlfriend, a coroner, tells him about a series of odd drug-related deaths where the bodies are full of heroin, but the cause of death is a wound to the head. It turns out that the deaths are caused by an alien who's extracting something from the bodies, and who's in turn being chased by another alien. The good alien turns up mortally wounded in the back of Caine and Smith's car, and explains to them that the bad alien is shooting people full of heroin before extracting the endorphins from their brains, since human endorphins are a highly valued space drug. Or something. When the alien dies, the two get their hands on his super-powerful gun, but their superiors are involved in an alien-related conspiracy, and it's up to the odd couple of cops to deal with the unfinished business with the alien drug dealer once and for all.

This 4k remaster is quite nice, excellent color and contrast, fine detail, maybe a smidge more grain than I would have liked, but generally not much to complain about. 5.1 and stereo tracks both sound good, too bad there's no commentary.
