Brief description
I'll Fly Away is an American television drama series that aired on NBC from October 7, 1991, to February 5, 1993.
Set during the late 1950s and early 1960s, in an unspecified Southern U.S. state, it starred Regina Taylor as Lilly Harper,
a black housekeeper for the family of district attorney Forrest Bedford, played by Sam Waterston.
The series won two 1992 Emmy Awards and received 23 nominations in total. It also won three Humanitas Prizes, two
Golden Globe Awards, two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, and a Peabody Award.
Despite all the critical acclaim, the show was cancelled by NBC in 1993.

This is for purposes of preservation since the show remains unavailable as a DVD/Blu-Ray release or on streaming services.
The source for this upload is a series of cassettes on which every episode of the series were recorded in sequence.
These recordings are from when the show aired on the Finnish national broadcast network, YLE, in the early 90's.
This unfortunately means that Finnish language subtitles are permanently fixed to the image (or fortunately, if you're Finnish!).
A regular household VCR and VHS-tapes were used so the quality varies somewhat based on signal during the broadcast
as well as the condition of the tapes themselves. I ran the source files thru de-noise to get rid of as much grain as possible.
All audio tracks also received a volume boost as well as a noise removal when necessary. Some episodes had particular
kinds of damage for which I had to do custom fixes (see included episode list).
Final quality is acceptable, if not great for the source.
