In 1935 in Foshan, south China, there are martial arts schools on every street corner. Ip Man is the undisputed martial arts champion, yet he has not devoted himself to teaching. Despite this, it seems that all the kung fu masters of the city are eager to fight him to improve their reputation.

Ip Man (cinese tradizionale: 葉 問, cinese semplificato: 问 叶, pinyin: Ye Wen) è un film del 2008 semi-biografico di arti marziali vagamente basato sulla vita di Yip Man, un grande maestro dell'arte marziale del Wing Chun e la prima persona dedita ad insegnare l'arte apertamente. Uno dei suoi studenti è stato il molto influente e apprezzato artista marziale e regista Bruce Lee. Il film si concentra sugli eventi nella vita di Ip che prendono luogo nella città di Foshan durante la Seconda guerra sino-giapponese.
