Het verhaal van Johnny Mad Dog speelt zich af in het Afrika van vandaag. De
vijftienjarige Johnny, een kindsoldaat met rapallures, tot de tanden gewapend,
wordt gedreven door de "mad dog" die hij wil worden. Met zijn kleine commando,
bestaande uit Baby AK, Small Devil en Chili Pepper, steelt hij, plundert hij en
slacht hij iedereen die zijn pad kruist, zonder pardon af. Een bende jongeren
die oorlogje speelt, gedreven door filmprenten uit Hollywood en allerhande
desinformatie. Laokolé, 16 jaar, die haar gehandicapte vader voortduwt in een
wankele kruiwagen, tracht zich de prachtige toekomst in te beelden die haar
briljante schoolresultaten voor haar leken te openen. Ze wil met haar kleine
broertje Fofo, 10 jaar, vluchten uit haar stad, die is overgeleverd aan de
milities van de kindsoldaten. Terwijl Johnny vooruitgaat, vlucht Laokolé weg.
Een in de kiem gesmoorde jeugd, een Afrika dat verwoest wordt door ongerijmde
oorlogen, een volk dat ondanks alles probeert te overleven en zijn eigen stukje
menselijkheid tracht te vrijwaren.

The story of Johnny Mad Dog is set in today's Africa. Fifteen-year-old Johnny, a
child soldier with rapallures, armed to the teeth, is driven by the "mad dog"
who he wants to be. With his small command, consisting of AK Baby, Small Devil,
and Chili Pepper, steal, plunder and slaughter he he anyone who crosses his
path, without pardon. A gang of youths who play little war, driven by Hollywood
film prints and all sorts of misinformation. Laokole, 16 years, her disabled
father pushing a rickety wheelbarrow, tries to imagine the beautiful future
which her brilliant academic performance seemed to open for her. She wants her
little brother Fofo, 10 years, fleeing from her town, which has been handed to
the militias of child soldiers. While Johnny progresses, Laokole flight path.
Nipped in the bud a youth, an Africa that is ravaged by absurd wars, a nation
that, despite all attempts to survive his own piece of humanity and seeks to
safeguard.
