Fifty years after the Revolution, a mysterious infection brings the dead to life, hungry for human flesh. Juan (Alexis Dias De Villegas), like many of his fellow citizens, he lives by his wits and sees a calamity in every opportunity to make ends meet, so she decides to take advantage of the situation and, together with her daughter Camila (Madrileña the sultry actress Andrea Duro) and a handful of friends, sets up an unlikely activity Zombie Hunters, advertised with the slogan: Riammazziamo your loved ones!
It took more than two years to get to Italy Juan de los Muertos (the world premiere was September 9, 2011 at the Toronto Film Festival), renamed for the occasion The Zombie Hunter. First Cuban Horror movie, made in co-production with Spain, the film is an irreverent Horror - Comedy that highlights the contradictions and the art of getting the Cuban people.
The Zombie Hunter is a hilarious party Gore, populated by non-trivial and stereotyped with which one can not but sympathize, who staged some very original ways of getting rid of the Zombies. Cost about one and a half million Euros, a budget much higher in a country where the average film productions do not exceed three hundred thousand, Brugués of the film, which pays homage, in a sequence, even underwater Zombie Lucio Fulci, shows how even Cuba is rich in talent who, if they get the chance, they are able to give us works that do not disfigure the comparison with the mega Hollywood productions. Particular care has been put into effective make-up of the Living Dead, made by Christian Jauregui and Catalina Pérez Montero while ago but smile says a lot about who they are, for the inhabitants of Havana, the Italian worthy of note, a joke of a of the protagonists on the attributes of Rocco Siffredi!

Cinquanta anni dopo la Rivoluzione, una misteriosa infezione riporta in vita i morti, affamati di carne umana. Juan (Alexis Dias De Villegas), come molti suoi concittadini, vive di espedienti e vede in ogni sciagura una opportunità per sbarcare il lunario, così decide di sfruttare la situazione e, insieme alla figlia Camila (la sensuale attrice Madrilena Andrea Duro) e ad un manipolo di amici, mette in piedi una improbabile attività di Zombie Hunters, pubblicizzata con lo slogan: Riammazziamo i vostri cari!
Ci ha messo più di due anni ad arrivare in Italia Juan de los Muertos (la prima mondiale è stata il 9 settembre 2011 al festival di Toronto), ribattezzato per l'occasione Il Cacciatore di Zombie. Primo film Horror Cubano, realizzato in co-produzione con la Spagna, la pellicola è una irriverente Horror - Comedy che mette in risalto le contraddizioni e l'arte di arrangiarsi del popolo Cubano.
Il Cacciatore di Zombie è una spassosissima festa Gore, popolata da personaggi non banali e stereotipati con cui non si può non simpatizzare, che mette in scena alcuni originalissimi modi di sbarazzarsi degli Zombies. Costato circa un milione e mezzo di euro, un budget decisamente alto in un paese dove mediamente le produzioni cinematografiche non superano i trecentomila, il film di Brugués, che omaggia, in una sequenza, anche gli Zombie subacquei di Lucio Fulci, dimostra quanto anche Cuba sia ricca di talenti che, se ne hanno la possibilità, sono in grado di regalarci opere che non sfigurano al confronto con le mega produzioni hollywoodiane. Particolare cura è stata messa negli efficaci make-up dei Morti Viventi, realizzati da Christian Pérez Jaùregui e Catalina Montero, mentre fa sorridere ma la dice lunga su chi sono, per gli abitanti della Havana, gli Italiani degni di nota, una battuta di uno dei protagonisti sugli attributi di Rocco Siffredi!
