These are two related videos I made in defending both Martha Stewart and
Conrad Black against what seemed like unreasonable charges, threats
of sanctions (which in the case of Conrad Black was a hundred years in
prison) and the equally unreasonable need to impose a jail sentence on
Martha Stewart who could certainly have paid a fair fine instead - or even
an unreasonably high one - if the mob wished.
I sent a quarter of a million personalized emails for Conrad Black to the 100,000
top Lawyers at Law firms working in the United states to support the idea of the
"system" accepting a non-compete arrangement in exchange for payment - which is
what Conrad Black was wrongly accused of fraud for doing - I had the same arrangement
with my former employer Computerland where I was Sales Manager back in 1984
In the case of such an agreement, I pointed out, the courts do take an active
interest to see that you have received enough monies to give such an undertaking
as to not compete in the future against the party offering the monies involved.
I also sent a total of about 100,000 emails to public officials and press on our mailing
lists back then in support of saner sanctions in the case of Martha Stewart than that
which had been applied, and also suggesting she was in fact innocent of the charge
against her for sensible reasons we put forward back then.
We were in touch with both Conrad Black and Martha Stewart at the times these
videos were first made and during the course of the email campaigns
