Basato sul romanzo di Agatha Christie, edito in Italia con il titolo È un problema, Mistero a Crooked House è un giallo corale come quelli che piacciono all'autrice: un confronto incrociato tra i componenti di una ricca famiglia inglese, tra le sale della sontuosa villa del capostipite. Per ottenere finalmente la mano della bella e facoltosa Sophia Leonides (Stefanie Martini), incontrata al Cairo presso l'ambasciata inglese, il giovane investigatore privato Charles Hayward (Max Irons) deve risolvere il mistero che avvolge la morte di suo nonno, il patriarca Aristides Leonides, avvelenato da un familiare a Crooked House. Nella dimora lussureggiante, dove l'intera famiglia si è trasferita a causa della Seconda guerra mondiale, figli e nipoti del defunto puntano il dito contro Brenda (Christina Hendricks), giovane seconda moglie dell'anziano miliardario, accusata di avere una liaison sentimentale con il precettore dei nipoti. Le indagini personali conducono Charles su piste non battute dalla polizia, nuovi moventi emergono a rimescolare le carte, e gli alibi già traballanti dei misteriosi inquilini crollano sotto il peso di stringenti interrogativi. Based on the novel by Agatha Christie, published in Italy under the title It's a problem, Mystery in Crooked House is a choral yellow like those that appeals to the author: a cross-comparison between the members of a rich English family, among the sumptuous rooms villa of the progenitor. To finally get the hand of the beautiful and wealthy Sophia Leonides (Stefanie Martini), met in Cairo at the British Embassy, the young private investigator Charles Hayward (Max Irons) must solve the mystery that surrounds the death of his grandfather, the Patriarch Aristides Leonides, poisoned by a family member at Crooked House. In the luxuriant dwelling, where the entire family moved due to the Second World War, the deceased's sons and grandchildren point the finger at Brenda (Christina Hendricks), the young second millionaire's wife, accused of having a sentimental liaison with the tutor of the nephews. The personal investigations lead Charles on tracks not beaten by the police, new motives emerge to shuffle the cards, and the already shaky alibis of the mysterious tenants collapse under the weight of stringent questions. Not only is the question asked who the killer is, but whether and when he will strike again.
