Adaptation très libre de la série littéraire OSS 117 de Jean Bruce, plus qu'un film d'espionnage, a vocation à être un film humoristique, tournant en dérision le personnage principal qui se révèle orgueilleux, prétentieux et surtout bourré de préjugés misogynes, racistes ou xénophobes.
It's 1955, and relations are tense between Nasser's Egypt and France, friendly with Farouk. Secret agent Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, a.k.a. OSS 117 and pride of the french intelligence service, is ordered to investigate undercover in Cairo after a fellow agent and close friend disappears.
An homage to classic spy films and based on the OSS 117 novel series by Jean Bruce, but acts as a parody of the spy genre rather than a faithful adaptation, and depicts OSS 117 as an idiotic Frenchman with narrow-minded views on race, religion, and gender roles.
