I think this tour was about the real red white and blue blood in the streets kind of patriotism. Not today's prefabricated fear induced, paranoid bully pulpit patriotism that does no one no good. Too many hidden agendas, too much oil for sale to the highest bidder. Today the lowest common denominator has replaced everything, including mom's apple pie and baseball. Bob knows what he's doing, even when he's in the dark, hands reaching out for another bottle of blue nun or her reflection in the knife. He wears the American flag wrapped around his head like a turban because he believes sooner than later the American Dream will go the way of Sheiks walkin' around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings. In 1965 he wrote, "On the slow train time does not interfere & at the Arabian crossing waits White Heap, the man from the newspaper & behind him the hundred inevitables made of solid rock & stone -" and truer words have not been spoken or broken since. This tour's all about raging glory before anyone, even Neil looked into the eyes of hate and saw only love.
