Marty McFly, a typical American teenager of the Eighties, is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a plutonium-powered DeLorean time machine invented by slightly mad scientist. During his often hysterical, always amazing trip back in time, Marty must make certain his teenage parents-to-be meet and fall in love - so he can get back to the future.

Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) è stato catapultato per errore nel 1955, grazie alla macchina del tempo ideata dal suo amico scienziato Doc (Christopher Lloyd). Non avendo più “carburante” per poter tornare nel futuro si rivolge alla versione più giovane di Doc, che nonostante l’incredulità iniziale si farà in quattro per aiutarlo. Ma nel 1955 non è solo Doc ad essere più giovane, Marty infatti si imbatte casualmente nei suoi genitori, all’epoca teenager, ma l’incontro aggiungerà altri problemi.
