Summary:

Calvin (Paul Dano) is a young novelist who achieved phenomenal success early in his career but is now struggling with his writing – as well as his romantic life. Finally, he makes a breakthrough and creates a character named Ruby who inspires him. When Calvin finds Ruby (Zoe Kazan), in the flesh, sitting on his couch about a week later, he is completely flabbergasted that his words have turned into a living, breathing person.

Calvin (Dano) is een schrijver die in zijn jongere jaren fenomenale successen heeft weten te behalen, maar nu worstelt met het schrijven en met zijn romantische leven. Maar dan boekt hij eindelijk weer eens succes met een eigen verzonnen karakter genaamd Ruby. Als Calvin een paar weken later Ruby in levende lijve thuis op de bank heeft zitten, is hij van slag en verbijsterd dat zijn gecreëerde karakter het echte leven heeft weten te vinden in de vorm van een levend ademhalend persoon.

Storyline

Calvin is a genius novelist who begins to type a new novel on his manual typewriter about Ruby, his dream girl. He can't believe his eyes, because the next day, Ruby becomes a real person, and they begin to have a beautiful relationship together. If the relationship isn't perfect, all Calvin has to do is simply type the words on the page and Ruby's actions change to what he needs.
