Floating World Live documents an important transitional time for Soft Machine: in the aftermath of the departure of Robert Wyatt and Elton Dean, and the subsequent addition of Karl Jenkins, John Marshall and then (albeit, briefly) Allan Holdsworth.

By virtue of the radical changes, the style and repertoire of the band changed dynamically, as this impeccably-recorded and -produced (and digitally-remastered) album reveals. Reinvigorating both the international press and their huge fanbase with the retooled lineup and repertoire, the concert was very well-received and the band was inspired and in sparkling form.

This important release is truly a rare gem -- documenting an important moment in the annals of progressive music -- and an essential that is not to be missed by any fans of progressive music, Soft Machine and Allan Holdsworth.

*Recorded live on January 29, 1975 in the Post-Aula in Bremen-Horn, Germany, by Radio Bremen.
