Nel 1979, Joe Lamb ha 13 anni e perde la madre in un incidente sul lavoro. Louis Dainard arriva a casa dei Lamb, per confortare la famiglia per la tragica scomparsa, ma il padre di Joe, il
vice-sceriffo Jackson Lamb, lo ammanetta poiché lo reputa responsabile della morte di sua moglie, dato che si era presentato al lavoro ubriaco ed il suo turno fu assegnato alla moglie di
Jackson.
Quattro mesi dopo, Charles Kaznyk, migliore amico di Joe, assegna ad Alice, la figlia di Dainard, il ruolo della moglie del protagonista, nel suo film horror amatoriale, girato con una
pellicola Super 8. Nella notte, Joe, Charles, Preston, Martin e Cary, si apprestano a girare una scena del film. Alice ruba la macchina del padre e passa a prendere il gruppo, che poi si
dirige verso un vecchio deposito ferroviario. Mentre i ragazzi si preparano a riprendere la scena giunge un treno, Joe nota però un pick-up che procede spedito verso il treno in arrivo e
con cui si schianta, causando un deragliamento del treno. I......
Storyline
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after,
unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
