Incubus (1982), directed by John Hough, Vinegar Syndrome 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical mono, commentary track, and English subtitles.

Video encoded in two-pass 14.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : Here's a little seen but kind of interesting supernatural slasher, courtesy of John Hough, who also directed the third film in the Karnstein trilogy for Hammer before moving across the pond and on to (somewhat) greater things. This stars John Cassavetes for who knows what reason, along with John Ireland, and Kerrie Keane, who I mistook for Samantha Eggar at first, but no. It does want to be taken seriously, but it's constantly slightly lurid and exploitative, as well as featuring a strange appearance by British hard rock band Samson (notable for being the band of Bruce Dickinson and Clive Burr before Iron Maiden), so it's hard to know what to make of it, but the performances are fine, the visuals often interesting, and the story decent enough.

A young couple is attacked at night, the man is killed and the woman brutally raped and left in critical condition. A young boy named Tim Galen has recurring nightmares about a woman being tortured by a monster, and his grandmother Agatha tries to convince him it's nothing but a dream. At the hospital in the small town of Galen, Dr. Sam Cordell treats the rape victim, and it turns out his teenage daughter is dating Tim, against Cordell's wishes. A reporter named Laura Kinkaid shows up to pester the sheriff as he's talking to Cordell, and the sheriff forces her to leave. As more women turn up raped and dead, with unnaturally large amounts of semen in their orifices, Cordell is faced with the mystery of Laura's resemblance to his dead wife, as well as the mounting body count, and Tim's mental state deteriorates, leading him to become a suspect, but Laura insists a demonic force is at large.

This is billed as a 4k remaster, and that may well be true, but it's hardly cleaned up at all, so the general state of the image is not great, with frequent dust and scratches, some flickering, and wildly varying grain. Color and contrast is fine, and detail is ok. Mono track similarly is passable, and the commentary track with The Hysteria Continues is basically what those guys do on commentary tracks.
