Summary:

Newly married to an older man, Julie returns to Vienna, where a razor wielding slasher is killing women. Jean, her cruel and sadistic former lover, immediately contacts her, certain that only he can satisfy her strange vice. But she rejects him. She also meets George, the handsome cousin of her friend Carol; both are newly rich, thanks to an uncle's death. Julie's husband Neil is away frequently, so George pours on the charm. Meanwhile, it seems that the slasher is now focused on Julie. Bodies pile up, other murders are barely avoided, and George invites her to go away with him. Can it end happily?

Note : One of the quintessential gialli here, directed by Sergio Martino and starring Edwige Fenech, and I have to say, this is about as good as giallo gets, especially in the classic, not quite so explicitly violent era. It also has the distinction of actually being quite hard to figure out, with the constant twists and turns, although whether you completely buy into the final resolution or not depends on your level of suspension of disbelief. As mentioned, this isn't all that violent or bloody, but it has a fair amount of nudity, a large part of which features Fenech, so between that and the quite good cinematography, it's very easy on the eyes.

Julie Wardh, a diplomat's wife, returns to Vienna after spending time in New York City, and while her husband is immediately tied up with business, she reconnects with her old social circle, which includes her easygoing friend Carol, whose uncle has just died, leaving a large sum of money to her and her cousin George (George Hilton), and also Julie's sadistic ex lover Jean (Ivan Rassimov). Both Jean and George pursue her, while her husband is mostly absent, and at the same time, a serial killer of women is loose in Vienna. Julie finds herself receiving anonymous notes and the attention of a stalker, while she lets herself be seduced by George, but not all is as it seems.

This remaster is pretty good looking, clean and decent color, although I feel like it's a little bit more dark and muddy than it should be, and grain is sometimes a bit too present. Still, good image all in all, and both the original Italian track and the dub sound fine (but, as usual, just do yourself a favor and watch this in Italian with subtitles).
