If you want to feel in the role of a pilot, then this game was created just for this. X-Plane has long been considered one of the best flight simulators available for personal computers. You will find a huge selection of aircraft models, from small helicopters to passenger liners.
X-Plane demonstrates how challenging it is to control an airplane or a helicopter. In the new version, the interface and graphics have been changed - new special effects, realistic locations, reliably faithful aircraft models, both modern and outdated.
The composition of the simulator includes several commercial, military and other aircraft, as well as a global scenario that covers most of the Earth. Also included in the package is software for creating and customizing aircraft models. X-Plane has a plug-in system that allows users to extend the functionality of the simulator and create their own worlds or copies of real terrain.
X-Plane differs from other simulators in its use of the blade element theory developed to evaluate propeller behavior. Each wing and propeller blade is divided into small sub-elements, for each of them the acting aerodynamic forces and moments are calculated, then they all add up, and the overall result is obtained. X-Plane extends this model to the entire aircraft (helicopter and other aircraft), working with the fuselage, wing and tail unit as with elements creating lift.

Here are the files for Linux (~ 18 MB). If you have a Windows version, you can unzip the contents of the archive into the root directory of the game with the replacement of libraries (* .so). The Windows version will not stop working.
Installation procedure :
Unzip the archive to any place and run the start script.
To add a game icon to the application menu and to the desktop, run the desktop script.
