Note : The sheer amount of zombie movies produced is enough to boggle the mind. Even if we limit ourselves to Italian zombie movies, there are quite a lot, but this one stands out from the rest to me. The fairly original accidental discovery of a secret scientific report reminds me of Lovecraft, the lead actors are charming and charismatic, and the slowly unfolding conspiracy and building paranoia make it tense and unsettling. True, the build-up is better than the payoff, and there aren't really a lot of actual living dead in this, but the creepy toothless zombie and the unexpected twists make it definitely worth watching.

Stefano is a writer who gets a used electric typewriter as a wedding anniversary present from his wife, but it turns out the typewriter ribbon has legible text on it, a series of letters and reports from the previous owner about certain geographic areas where time stands still and the dead buried there come back to life. He starts investigating, but it turns out powerful people are already experimenting with these so-called K-Zones, and they don't appreciate his meddling.

This new 88 Films remaster in general looks very good, although it is quite grainy (hence the high bitrate on this encode). Soundtracks are also good, although as usual I recommend watching with the original Italian sound and subtitles. Commentary tracks are also fine, but who knows why one of them is with a pair of "Asian cinema experts". Still, not much to complain about.
