The Birds is a 1963 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on the short story of the same name by Daphne du Maurier published in 1953.
Presented out of competition at the 16th Cannes Film Festival, it is one of the director's most famous works and one of his greatest box office successes.
In 2016 he was chosen for conservation in the National Film Registry of the United States Library of Congress.
