Eddie Ryan is a tough, no-nonsense and racist Irish NYC cop who has to turn in his badge after scuffling with a drug
running suspect who falls to his death from a rooftop. That doesn't stop Ryan from heading out on a one-man
crusade to find out who killed his partner of three years. The character of Eddie Ryan is loosely based
on real-life NYC cop Eddie Egan, who was the detective who busted the real "French Connection."
