Guinevere (Ormond) belooft om met Koning Arthur (Connery) te trouwen, omdat haar land dan onder de bescherming van Camelot zal vallen.
Lancelot (Gere) is een zeer begaafde en moedige zwaardvechter die haar tijdens haar Rit naar Camelot redt van de slechte Malagant.
Ze zijn op slag verliefd, maar Guinevere is van plan om haar belofte aan aan Arthur na te komen. Lancelot geeft het echter niet zo makkelijk op.

Lady Guinevere, on her way to marry King Arthur is ambushed by the evil Sir Malagant.
Fortunately Lancelot is lurking nearby and he rescues his future queen.
They fall in love, but Guinevere still fancies the idea of wearing a crown, so she honours her promise to Arthur.
Can Lady Guinevere remain faithful, or will this Pretty Woman become a lady of the knight?

Le roi Arthur gouverne son royaume depuis sa ville fortifiée de Camelot. Seul Méléagant, ancien chevalier de la Table ronde, met en péril la paix.
Par deux fois, il tente d'enlever Guenièvre, fiancée du souverain. Un chevalier la sauve, Lancelot, tombant fou amoureux d'elle. Pour elle, malgré son indépendance,
il devient l'un des chevaliers d'Arthur. Surpris par Arthur au moment d'un fougueux baiser d'adieu, Guenièvre et Lancelot sont convaincus de trahison et jugés sur la place publique.
En attaquant Camelot,
Méléagant donne à Lancelot l'occasion de prouver sa fidélité au roi. Celui-ci meurt, laissant sa jeune épouse à la garde de Lancelot...
