Il film fu prodotto con costi assai ridotti dalla Mercury Film International per conto della Metro Goldwyn Mayer, assieme ad altri tre (I criminali della galassia, Il pianeta errante e La morte viene dal pianeta Aytin) girati contemporaneamente da Margheriti nel giro di dodici settimane, sfruttando stesse scenografie e la maggior parte del cast. Inizialmente realizzati per il mercato televisivo statunitense
The film was produced with very low costs by Mercury Film International on behalf of Metro Goldwyn Meyer, together with three others (The criminals of the galaxy, The wandering planet and Death comes from the planet Aytin) shot simultaneously by Margheriti within twelve weeks, using the same sets and most of the cast. Initially made for the US television market
